English vs. American Labradors
What Is The Difference?
Appearance Differences:
The English style tends to have a stockier frame, deep barreled chest and shorter legs. They have a block type head and shorter muzzle. They also have a shorter "otter" tail and are on the lower to middle end of the height spectrum and higher end of the weight.
The American tends to be slightly taller and more slender. They have thinner coats, with a longer neck and muzzle. They are more muscular and are typically on the lower end of the weight spectrum.
Temperament Differences:
Both English and American are friendly, loving and kind-natured dogs. However, the English Lab may in some cases be less energetic and driven outdoors.
The American Lab is a very athletic dog with great hunting and retrieving instincts. They enjoy exercise and mental stimulation. They both can be perfect family dogs and cuddle partners.
